Local Brisbane Volunteers To Be Recognized at Womens Group Luncheon |

Soroptimist International Brisbane City, a women's service group, is holding a luncheon timed to coincide with United Nations Day to thank volunteers in its community. Richard Cowley is guest speaker on the theme of Peace. Ticket purchases welcome.

Soroptimist International Brisbane City, a professional women's service organisation working through projects to raise the status of women, advance human rights, and promote equality, development and peace for all, is holding its Annual Community Volunteer Awards Luncheon 26 October 2008.
The Luncheon helps to celebrate United Nations Day and recognises the outstanding contributions of people and/or organisations that promote peace and unity within our community. This year’s luncheon has special significance, as it coincides with the year in which we celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the UN Declaration of Human Rights.
Special guest speaker, Richard Cowley – Convenor International Day of Peace Alliance - is an outstanding individual and a quiet achiever who has united many organisations in the Brisbane Region to celebrate the International Day of Peace each year.
Club President, Michelle Jansen, said, “With Peace set as this year’s luncheon’s theme, Mr Cowley is a perfect selection. He is both passionate and tireless in his pursuit of world peace and a terrific, local advocate.”
You will also have an opportunity to meet some of the club’s special award recipients, members and volunteers and learn a little more about our its local and international projects.
The luncheon is to be held on Sunday 26th October 2008 from 11.30am – 2.30pm at The Colmslie Hotel, Junction Road, Morningside, Brisbane, Queensland. The cost is $30 for the waged, $20 for the unwaged and retired or $10 for students. The RSVP date is Monday 20 October 2008.
