Raising Awareness of Human Trafficking by Selling the DVD "The Jammed"

Soroptimist International is gravely concerned about the devastating global increase in trafficking of human beings, especially women and children and the gross violation of their basic human rights. To help raise community awareness through social education, Soroptimist International Brisbane City is an authorised distributor of the Australian produced DVD "The Jammed", which is based on a true story inspired by court transactions that highlight the issues of illegal prostitution and government deportation of victims in Australia. Proceeds from the sale of the DVD will support projects that assist survivors of human trafficking.

The DVD was official released today and as part of our Soroptimist International Brisbane City International Women's Day (IWD) Celebrations we held our own official launch at our Breakfast meeting on 5 March 2008.

We have an order form (click here) with copies selling for AUD $35 including postage and handling.  The DVD's would make great gifts or maybe consider buying a copy to send to your local politicians, donate to the local library or neighbourhood community centre and so on.

We will have some copies available for purchase on Sunday 9th March at the South Queensland Region's Best Practice Awards. Help spread the word that Human Trafficking is a violation of human rights, it is happening here in Australia and it must STOP.
