Who may become a Soroptimist?

Women in, or who have been in, professions, business, trade, and industry in responsible positions and/or engaged substantially in voluntary philanthropic work and home management are eligible to become Soroptimists.  This broad representation is aimed at enabling clubs to effectively carry out Soroptimist Objectives through Programme of Service activities and to have a strong positive influence in the community.

How much does it cost?

Currently, annual club membership fees are set at $160.  If you join part-way through the membership year, you will only be charged a pro-rate fee rate. When you first join the club, there is an additional fee of $25 to cover a Soroptimist pin and a copy of the constitution and other organisational documents on CD.  We also encourage you to purchase a Soroptimist badge with your name to wear at club meetings and events.  These are currently $15.

Becoming a member?

Membership of a Soroptimist Club is by invitation only.  If you would like to be invited to a meeting, please fill out our membership invitation form or email the membership convenor. There is no obligation to join the club but we would certainly encourage you to become financial if you have attended a couple of meetings and wish to continue and further your association with the club.

Our club welcomes enquiries from women who live in rural and remote areas who might like to join as a virtual member and maintain contact via online communication. eg. Email, Skype, etc.

When a Soroptimist moves to an area where there is no Soroptimist Club, she may choose to remain attached to her club until she returns home or moves again to an area where there is a club to which she can transfer membership.
